about

If you lived outside of Austin or Dallas, you likely never heard the Shells during their fleeting existence in the early 2000s. The band was a retro inspired pop group entrenched in 60s aesthetics and processes, and encouraged by the Elephant 6 collective's success. The group saw only two 7” releases, one through Little Mafia records; all four tracks are featured here. The band was initially a recording project for songwriter Carlos Jackson, and expanded to a live ensemble after his first self released 7” Revolution Evolution. This collection features all songs recorded by the group from 1999 to 2005, including compositions by bassist Tommy Stockslager and drummer and organist Laurelin Outman.
